President Gloria Macapal Arroyo once more appointed Fr. Ranhilio Callangan Aquino, Vice-President for Academic Affairs of the Cagayan State University and also Dean, on consultancy, of the Graduate School of Law of San Beda College (Mendiola) to an Independent Fact Finding Committee, this time to probe the handling of the case of the so-called Subic Drug Haul, said to be the biggest haul of shabu in the country. The total amount seized is said to have a street value of PHP 6.2 billion pesos. Appointed with Fr. Aquino were Justice Carolina Grino-Aquino and Justice Raoul Victorino, the very same members of the Independent Committee that looked into the case of the Alabang Boys. Fr. Aquino’s active participation in the Alabang Boys’ case was noted by several national newspapers. It was because of his questioning that the participation of a “fourth” Alabang Boy, one Patrick Al-Khoury, who was never indicted, was uncovered.
