Cagayan State University (CSU) led by President Urdujah G. Alvarado and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region 02 spearheaded by Regional Director Vincent Aljon A. Cifra convene today, August 7, 2023, to unlock more opportunities through the agency’s priority programs and projects.

With its regional vision of “A Vibrant and Responsive TVET Ecosystem in Region II with Excellence Standards”, RD Cifra presented the TESDA’s priority programs & projects along with their scholarship grants.

In his report, CSU has a total of 695 slots this 2023 under the two TESDA scholarship programs namely, the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) with 425 scholars, and 270 in the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act Scholarship Program (UAQTEA) with a total scholarship fund of P20.6M allocated in different campuses of CSU – Andrews, Aparri, Gonzaga, Lal-lo, Piat and Sanchez Mira. Aside from the National Certificate (NC) qualification services of CSU, RD Cifra encouraged other campuses of the university to offer diploma programs, one of the top priority programs of TESDA.

Currently, CSU has 51 Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) assessment centers, 17 training centers, and several faculty members with TESDA certificates — 61 with NC II Certificates, 23 with NC III, 68 with Trainor’s Methodology, and 62 with TVET National Trainer’s Certificates. The University also developed 29 competency-based learning materials and has 9 more TVET establishments housed in CSU including the newly built TVET building in CSU Gonzaga. Meanwhile, a tour of the CSU Hotel took place after the meeting. President Alvarado believes that this will open new opportunities for CSU Andrews’ TVET programs. “With our new Regional Director, I hope that TVET in CSU will flourish more. We have always been grateful for the support the previous administration has given us. And we are certain that the same support shall be extended, even more, I suppose, with RD Cifra at the helm,” the President said. CSU offers various diploma programs in Aparri, Lal-lo, Gonzaga, Piat, and Sanchez Mira with a minimum of 6 NC eligibilities upon completing the programs.
