National Economic and Development Authority - Region 02 Regional Director Dionisio Ledres, Jr. delivered a lecture on the essential role of education and lifelong learning in realizing the vision of making the Cagayan Valley Region the gateway to East Asia by 2040. The lecture, conducted during the CSU Mid-Year Assessment and Planning for Vice-Presidents and Campus Executive Officers, took place at the Hotel Seoul in Clark, Pampanga, on October 9, 2023.
As the Resource Speaker, RD Ledres discussed the strategic framework outlined in the Cagayan Valley Regional Development Plan (CVRDP) for improving education and lifelong learning. The plan encompasses the attainment of quality, inclusive, adaptive, and future-ready basic education for all individuals. It also emphasizes the global competitiveness and inclusivity of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Higher Education institutions.
Moreover, the plan focuses on enhancing the research output to foster a broader knowledge economy while concurrently highlighting the necessity of improving governance to enhance human capital development.
In addition, RD Ledres presented the annual targets for the years 2023 to 2028, presenting specific indicators for each strategic objective. He emphasized the crucial role of the TVET and Higher Education Institutions in accomplishing these targets. Their progress can be measured through their rankings on the international stage, the results of licensure examinations, and the establishment of robust information systems.
The lecture by RD Ledres served as a call to action, inspiring academic and administrative leaders of Cagayan State University to actively contribute towards achieving the region’s vision.
