CSU COLLEGE OF LAW GRADUATES 33 STUDENTS FOR SY 2022-2023

CSU-College of Law held its 21st Academic Convocation today at the CSU Claude Andrews Convention Center for the conferment of degrees on its 33 graduates for SY 2022-2023. With the theme, “Advancing Social Justice: CSU Law as catalyst for Change,” it is a celebration of the milestones and achievements of the college as it continues to produce future lawyers.

Leading the class of 2023 is Mr. Julius Anthony Tanguilan. In his valedictory speech, he expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed in this batch’s successful stay at CSU Law, including parents, friends, and professors. He further said that all challenges experienced will all be their inspiration in fighting the hurdles of the BAR examinations. Justice Raymond Reynold Lauigan, this year’s commencement speaker reminded them of their professional and ethical duties as legal professionals. “Strive to help the needy in the province, champion fairness and justice, and approach work with modesty and humility,” he concluded.

CSU President Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado also gave a message to the graduates. She encouraged them to seek purpose for choosing this path. “It is when you know the purpose of your dreams that the fire continues to ignite amid challenges,” she added.

Campus and university officials also took part in the ceremony – Dr. Mariden Ventura-Cauilan, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Theresa B. Dimalanta,Vice President for IPRM, Dr. Lirio Gudina C. Mangawil, Director of Instruction, Prof. Ramon Henry O. Kanapi, Andrews Campus CEO, Prof. Abraham Bangayan, University Registrar, Atty. Norman Clarence Lasam, the Dean of College of Law, Fr. Ranhilio C. Aquino, Emeritus Professor, and members of the faculty. The 33 graduates were also inducted into the Alumni Association by the CSU-Alumni President Dr. Nestor C. Ave.

As the 2nd Law School to open in Cagayan, and since its establishment in 1999, the CSU-Law School has been performing well as evidenced by the recognitions it has received and its performance in BAR examinations. With its Legal Aid Center, the College of Law was the country’s 1st recipient of the 2022 Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) Solidarity Award during the 1st Philippine Clinical Legal Education Summit. CSU Law was also No.1 Worldwide in the 2023 Nuremberg Moot Court Tournament besting 100 law schools all over the world. For its performance in BAR Examinations, CSU has produced 63 lawyers (54.78%) in 2020-2021 and 45 new lawyers (30.41%) in 2022. Admissions for SY 2023-2024 will start on July 24, 2023.
