Super Typhoon Nando has left the province devastated, bringing widespread destruction to crops, homes, and properties. Countless families are now displaced, struggling to rebuild their lives in the wake of the storm.
Among the hardest-hit communities is Calayan Island, home to one of our campuses. The damage there is extensive, disrupting classes, administrative operations, and the daily lives of our students and personnel. The need for immediate support is urgent.
To help restore power and jumpstart recovery, the CSU administration will be delivering a newly purchased generator set. Construction materials for repairs are now being procured, along with essential supplies to sustain operations, including solar lights for classrooms, incandescent bulbs, electrical wiring, printers, bond papers, large water drums, office supplies, and other necessities.
One of the greatest challenges we face is transporting these supplies to Calayan, as most boats plying the Calayan–Aparri route were destroyed. Even so, the CSU management is determined to overcome these obstacles, working closely with our students, faculty, campus officials, and partners to find the best and fastest solutions.
The situation in Calayan Campus is heartbreaking, but our spirit remains unbroken. Together, we will persevere through this difficult time, holding on to the strength of community and compassion.
We ask that you continue to pray for Calayan and all those deeply affected by the super typhoon.
