By Office of the University President | February 16, 2026 |

February 16, 2026 – Cagayan State University (CSU) met with a representative of Universitas Islam 45 (UNISMA) to explore potential areas of collaboration in support of its internationalization efforts, alongside the conduct of an academic lecture on sustainable research and innovation culture.

In his welcome message, CSU Andrews Campus Chief Executive Officer Terence A. Tejada emphasized that forging global partnerships is essential to fostering innovation and enhancing institutional competitiveness. This was echoed by Dr. Chita C. Ramos, Dean of the College of Teacher Education (CTED), who noted that the engagement provides a platform for both universities to exchange expertise, explore collaborative opportunities, and design initiatives that strengthen instruction, research, and student outcomes.

During the first part of the event, UNISMA representative Dr. Dila Novita delivered a lecture titled “Fostering a Sustainable Research and Innovation Culture in the College of Teacher Education.” She shared international perspectives on building sustainable research and innovation ecosystems, enriching academic discourse, and providing students with valuable global insights.

Following the lecture, the Office of the Vice President for Internationalization, Partnership, and Resource Mobilization (OVPIPRM) led a separate inception meeting with faculty members and campus internationalization officials.

During the meeting, Dr. Ana Marie Cristina C. Cauilan, Vice President for IPRM, discussed the University’s Internationalization Program under the Board-approved ATHENA Internationalization Roadmap 2024–2027, followed by Director Kristinne A. Lara, who presented the Board-approved short-term faculty mobility initiatives, such as the Global Immerse Program and the English Program for Faculty Members.

Both universities identified priority areas for collaboration, including joint research, academic exchanges, and faculty development. A formal partnership is expected to be finalized in April, pending endorsement from CHED–IAS and approval by the CSU Board of Regents.

The event was organized by the CSU Andrews Campus – College of Teacher Education, in coordination with Mr. Edmer R. Sibbaluca, Coordinator of Campus Domestic and International Partnership.
