College of Hospitality Management (CHM) delegates, faculty members, and staff from five campuses of Cagayan State University, Aparri, Gonzaga, Sanchez Mira, Lal-lo, and Andrews, gathered at Sitio Nagbaranganan on March 26, 2026, for the University-Wide CHM Skills Olympics.
During the opening program, Campus Executive Officer Dr. Rodel Francisco T. Alegado welcomed the participants and emphasized the values of excellence, sustainability, and service. “Let us celebrate not only the fruits that will one day grow in this orchard, but also the wisdom, skills, and character that will be cultivated in every student who walks through its roles,” he said.
In his message, OIC President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez, highlighted the significance of skills and cultural appreciation. “We gather not only to compete, but to celebrate the richness of Filipino culture, the excellence of our students, and the shared vision that unites us as one university,” he stated.
Dr. Urdujah G. Alvarado, member of the CSU Board of Regents and CESB chairperson, underscored the importance of such events in enhancing global competitiveness, noting that they foster innovation, vision, and continuous learning among students.
Meanwhile, Sanchez Mira Mayor Hon. Abraham B. Bagasin expressed his appreciation to the participating campuses, describing the event as a celebration of talent and a platform for promoting sustainability through innovation and communication services.
The oathtaking ceremony was led by Ms. Ivy Caole, followed by the formal opening declaration by CHM University Dean Dr. Lianne T. Abuan. The ceremony concluded with the lighting of the torch, symbolizing unity, sportsmanship, and the enduring spirit of competition.
The Skills Olympics featured various competitions, including Festival Dance, Flight Attendant Showmanship, Events Proposal, Bed Make-Up with Towel Folding, Events Set-Up 3-in-1, Cake Decoration, Lagablaban sa Pugon (Market Basket), Flairtending (Double), Coffee Concoction, and Hari ng Pistang Bayan.
The CHM Skills Olympics showcased the talents and competencies of students across campuses while promoting excellence and preparing them to become future professionals in the hospitality and management industry.
