The Cagayan Valley Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (CVIEERDEC) conducted its first-quarter meeting on March 30, 2026, via Zoom, bringing together member institutions to align priorities and strengthen regional collaboration.
Chaired by Cagayan State University (CSU) Officer-in-Charge President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez, emphasized that research initiatives must extend beyond institutions to deliver measurable benefits to local communities, particularly at the barangay level.
Dr. Ibañez highlighted the importance of transferring technologies, strengthening soft skills, and integrating ICT solutions to improve community engagement and development outcomes.
Supporting this direction, Engr. Audy R. Quebral, Consortium Director and CSU Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, encouraged continued collaboration among member institutions, stressing that the consortium serves as a vital platform for sharing expertise and resources.
Engr. Quebral likewise expressed gratitude to the members for the 23 proposals recently evaluated and submitted under the 2026 calls for capability development and concept proposals, expressing optimism for funding support.
The meeting prioritized strengthening consortium operations and R&D capacity by crafting a regional S&T agenda, recommending policies to PCIEERD and regional councils, and expanding resource-sharing mechanisms. To support these goals, the consortium established Technical Working Groups for Research and Development, Capability Building, Intellectual Property Protection and Utilization, and Linkages and Networks.
CVIEERDEC, composed of higher education institutions, government agencies, and the private sectors, continues to serve as a cornerstone for advancing research innovation in industry, energy, and emerging technology in Cagayan Valley.
