To strengthen faculty competence in Outcome-Based Education (OBE), Cagayan State University conducted a Two-Day Training-Workshop on Pedagogy, Assessment Methods, and Test Construction in the OBE Framework on October 2–3, 2025.
The activity aimed to equip non-education graduates and new faculty members with essential knowledge and practical skills in teaching, assessment, and test construction aligned with OBE principles.
On the first day, Dr. Princess Zarla Raguindin and Dr. Alvin B. Barcelona of the Philippine Normal University facilitated sessions on the Basic Concepts and Principles of Assessment and the Table of Specifications, and led workshops on test construction and processing of outputs.
The second day featured lectures on Scoring Rubrics, Constructive Alignment as the Core of OBE, and Student-Centered Pedagogies, led by Dr. Raguindin and Dr. Ferdinand B. Bulusan of Isabela State University. Participants actively engaged in workshops that applied the concepts discussed.
The training-workshop successfully enhanced the participants’ capability to design outcome-based assessments and adopt student-centered teaching approaches, contributing to the continuous improvement of instruction and learning outcomes at CSU.
The activity was a joint initiative of the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, headed by Dr. Mariden V. Cauilan, and the Office of the Director of Instruction, led by Dr. Lirio Gudina C. Mangawil.
