In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, Cagayan State University (CSU), through the Guidance and Counseling Center, spearheaded “Accepting and Celebrating Uniqueness: Sharing Our Grand, Untold Stories” on October 20, 2025, at the Claude Andrews Convention Center.
Welcomed by the Rondalla, the activity gathered students from all CSU campuses, including Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Indigenous Peoples (IPs), solo parent students, and dependents of solo parents, for a day of learning, empowerment, and celebration of individuality.
OIC President Arthur G. Ibañez emphasized in his message that the university ensures both students and employees receive the services they need, especially in matters concerning their mental health. He added that CSU is committed to providing the necessary support to help them cope with their challenges, particularly those related to mental well-being.
Experts from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) shared insights on breaking barriers, recognizing the rights of PWDs, solo parents, and IPs, understanding CHED’s support services, and exploring scholarship opportunities for marginalized learners.
Adding color and creativity to the event, students showcased their talents through the Festival of Talents, featuring storytelling, drawing, and a TikTok challenge, each performance echoing the day’s theme of self-expression, resilience, and acceptance.
