Cagayan State University celebrated the National Education Support Personnel Day through a university-wide gathering held at CSU Piat Campus on May 14, 2026, recognizing the dedication and invaluable contributions of its personnel and staff across its nine campuses.
The celebration commenced with a tree-planting activity as part of the Orchard Establishment Program, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and unity among CSU personnel.
During the opening program, CSU Piat Campus Executive Officer Dr. Hitler B. Dangatan thanked the university’s support personnel for their sincere service, commitment, and hard work, emphasizing the importance of reconnecting, appreciating one another, and strengthening relationships within the CSU community.
In his message, Officer-In-Charge President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez expressed gratitude to the university’s support staff, acknowledging them as an essential pillar of the administration and university operations. He ensured the administration’s commitment to employee welfare and to creating an environment where personnel can continue to grow and eventually retire with pride in CSU service.
Board of Regents members Hon. Noel T. Veridiano II and Atty. Carmelo O. Villacete likewise emphasized the critical role of support personnel in the success of institutions, noting that behind every effective administration and quality educational outcome is a hardworking workforce that keeps operations running efficiently.
Highlighting the event was the seminar “You Matter: Prioritizing Mental Health and Self-Care in the Workplace” conducted by Ms. Lumine Plena C. Hernandez-Umoso, former Guidance Counselor of St. Paul University Philippines, which focused on mental wellness, workplace balance, and employee self-care.
Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Theresa B. Dimalanta encouraged the attendees to apply the lessons from the seminar in their daily lives. “I hope you enjoyed the lecture,” she stated, reminding everyone of the importance of self-preservation. “Let us take care of ourselves and prioritize our mental health.”
The event also featured sports competitions in volleyball and badminton and concluded with a TikTok Challenge showcasing camaraderie, creativity, and teamwork among employees.
During the awarding ceremony, Cluster 4 (CSU Lallo and CSU Aparri) emerged as champions in the Basketball and Badminton Mixed Doubles competitions. Cluster 2 (CSU Andrews, CSU Lasam, and CSU Gonzaga) secured the championship title in Men’s Volleyball, while Cluster 1 (CSU Carig, CSU Sanchez Mira, and CSU Solana) dominated the Women’s Volleyball competition. Meanwhile, CSU Aparri claimed the top spot in the TikTok Challenge competition.
