Cagayan State University and Aklan State University (ASU) strengthened inter-university cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 10, 2026, laying the foundation for long-term academic and institutional collaboration between the two state universities.

Signed by Cagayan State University Officer-in-Charge President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez and ASU President Dr. Jeffrey A. Clarin, the agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for collaborative initiatives in instruction, research, extension, innovation, and capacity development.

Among the priority areas identified under the partnership are student and faculty exchange programs, joint curriculum development, collaborative research projects, innovation initiatives, knowledge sharing, academic resource exchange, and community-based extension programs.

Both universities also committed to organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, and training programs that will strengthen institutional capabilities and promote professional development.

The MOU, which will remain in effect for five years, provides both institutions the flexibility to develop specific implementing agreements while pursuing mutually beneficial programs aligned with their respective missions and national development goals.
