From electric mobility to agriculture, public health, fisheries, and other strategic fields, Cagayan State University showcased its continuing commitment to research and innovation as the 2026 Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) opened at the Cagayan Provincial Coliseum, Tuguegarao City, on September 9.

In his message of support, Cagayan State University Officer-in-Charge University President Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez emphasized that science, technology, and innovation can create greater impact when government, academe, industry, LGUs, researchers, and communities work together.

“I continue to call on the entire CSU community to actively participate in DOST programs and in the broader national agenda for science, technology, and innovation,” Ibañez said.

He urged Cagayan State University faculty members to pursue research, students to innovate, campuses to collaborate, and the University’s technologies to reach the communities that need them.

Meanwhile, Cagayan State University put its own innovation on display during the RSTW opening through the eBuggy, a compact electric utility vehicle designed for short-distance transport and cargo applications.

Guests also experienced riding the All-Electric Tourist Transport Tram (e-Tranvia), a smart, eco-friendly mobility solution tailored for tourism and heritage sites.

Both e-vehicles were developed by Cagayan State University’s Electromobility Research and Development Center (EMRDC), an initiative funded by the Department of Science and Technology through its Niche Centers in the Regions for R&D (NICER) program.

Cagayan State University key officials including vice presidents, and campus executive officers, personnel and staff also attended the event, strengthening the university's commitment to advancing science, technology, and innovation in the region.

A press conference followed at the CSU Central Administration Conference Room featuring DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., Undersecretary for Regional Operations Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, Regional Director Dr. Virginia G. Bilgera, DOST-PHIVOLCS Director Dr. Teresito C. Bacolcol, and Dr. Arthur G. Ibañez.

The three-day RSTW, running from September 9–11, showcases technologies, R&D innovations, and science-based solutions supporting food security, digital transformation, sustainable development, and regional resilience.
